HRA Board Meeting Minutes. SEPT 3, 2026
HARBOR RIDGES ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING
Location: Home of President McAllister
Date: September 3, 2026
Members present: Greg McAllister, President; Gil Gerdman, Vice President; Roland Daneau, Treasurer; Mitch Leavitt, Secretary.
Call to order: 9:37
Review of Annual Meeting minutes: To be reviewed, edited and approve via email following meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Roland, Greg and prior Treasurer Maureen will meet at the bank tomorrow to transfer the account.
Debrief of Annual Meeting: Greg suggested that we consider alternative locations for future events to prepare for inclement weather, rather than rely on the generosity of Baileys Harbor Yacht Club. We discussed the concept of scheduling two separate meetings, one for the annual business meeting and a second date for the Annual Social Gathering. Location options include Baileys Harbor Town Hall and The Ridges Sanctuary. Local churches might also offer their space to a local non-profit organization. Alternatively, we may investigate renting a tent for the social gathering. Consider “Appetizer Potluck” format for the Social Gathering. Place a volunteer with a ‘sign in’ sheet at the entrance to the event. Fewer people likely attend the Annual business meeting, which could be held indoors.
Dues or donation collection: We decided to provide a ‘donation bucket’ at our future social gathering. Implementing a membership dues will require substantial work by someone, and is not favored now.
Presentation at future meetings: Should we arrange for a speaker presentation at our Social Gathering? This might discourage members who prefer a simple social gathering. ‘Will not pursue now.
HRA Website: Members at our recent Annual meeting expressed support for maintaining a web site. The site evolved from a site hosted by “Google Sites” to “WordPress” host. HRA member Ben Raatz recently created a possible web site for us that looks exceptionally promising, using Google Sites. The Google Site should cost less than $100 annually, similar to the WordPress site. The board approved establishing the Google Site. We will thank Ben Raatz for his work and his offer to assist further, and also thank member Paul Lurie’s son Matt Lurie for offering to create a site for us. Mitch will coordinate the communication and manage the web site. We intend to avoid including any personal information on the web site, and forego requiring a password to access the site.
2027 Membership Outreach: Greg and wife Melissa Porta created a detailed spreadsheet of possible HRA members (property owners) which includes mailing addresses and some email addresses. Email contact and fliers left on property doors fails to contact all potential members, Greg will create a mailing list, print address labels and coordinate a USPS mailing before the 2027 summer season, inviting participation and requesting email addresses. We will follow that with email notifications about our events.
HRA Administration: Registered Agent: The State of Wisconsin requires a Wisconsin address. Roland has a permanent Wisconsin address and offers to serve as the registered agent. Renewal of corporate Status: This is due in March annually. Roland intends to manage this. Determine other required filings: We understand there are no additional requirements; Roland will confirm that.
Ridges Road Trail: At our recent Annual meeting, a member provided a petition supporting the development of a “Ridges Road Trail” for pedestrians and bicycles. We do not understand who proposed this concept or why. We also are concerned that members may have misinterpreted the presence of the petition to imply that it was endorsed by organization, which is not currently so. In the future we will discourage such petitioning without board approval. We will explore this topic and share information via the web site.
Meetings for next year: We will pursue arrangement of an Annual Social Gathering in mid-season, July 24, 2027, at the “Adirondack Chairs”, perhaps erecting a tent for the event.
Adjournment: 10:58
